Welcome to Breakfast Serials

This is a new blog for serious writers who for whatever reason are coming out of an inactive period. The idea is to keep it low stress, by committing only to the story. You write as much each day as fits in your day, and build a serial novel while building a readership at the same time.

Want to be a Breakfaster? Send a short summary of the arc of your story, and a short writing sample to bfastserials@gmail.com. Please also let me know what your writing experience has been and, if you like, a little about the "fast" that you are ready to break. Breakfasters must be committed to producing high quality writing which is well proofread. Entries can be short, and so can the stories, although the ideal serial is novella or novel length. No single entry stories please. Not all writers will be accepted as Breakfasters, in order that the blog can serve as a reasonably reliable source of exceptional serial stories. All genres, except pornography, are acceptable, including all forms of fiction, drama, and memoir. Serials must be plot based--no personal journaling, poetry (except narrative, or where a poem serves a story), rants/reviews, or self- or business-promotions.

Want to watch a good story unfold? Join us as a reader. I hope to find ways readers can easily bookmark favorite stories or authors, or search by genre. You can also comment on the entries you read. Cheer on your favorite characters, throw virtual tomatoes when you don't like a plot twist, or just guess what will happen next. Maybe you'll inspire the writer, who is only one step ahead of the reader, after all.
